1.0 Introduction

2.0 Overview of Little Bonny's Rotisserie And Internship Placement

2.1 Organisational Background

Little Bonny’s Rotisserie, was started by Daniel Sorridimi and his business partner who had earlier had opened Cronulla's Blackwood Pantry, now wanted to open a unique chicken shop. The main plan behind this opening this restaurant was that they wanted to refine the classic Australian chicken shop(Bolles, 2017). They have a vision that chicken shop has evolved so much when they look at London, Paris, they were inspired by the what Merivale has done in Paddington. They plan was started when they thought there should be a neighboring chicken shop for everyone. that is what inspired them to open little Bonny’s restaurant. It is now one of the popular places in Sydney known for sizzling chicken, it is a medium-size restaurant, which has the 50-seat capacity(Bolles, 2017). Little Bonny’s have an award-winning design from Luchetti krella, which delivers the best space which has brass rotisseries that have been imported from France. They have the best team which is dedicated and deliver the chicken as an art form, dressed in crisp skin and marinated with herbs. Little Bonny’s is known as a place who has a ‘thing’ for chicken(Bolles, 2017). To make their menus even more attractive they have special dishes which are only delivered on weekends some of them are southerner roll, classic cheese, Chicken Caesar salad, Roasted pumpkin salad, and Southern Fried Chicken. The main aim of they wanted to achieve through their menu is that it will bridge the regional French cooking which they wanted to fuse with the Australian chicken shop(Bolles, 2017).

Little Bonny’s rotisserie is located in Carter Rd, Menai NSW 2234, Australia. The location is one of the advantages for the restaurant as they are located in the Menai Central Shopping Plaza, there are lots of people who comes to this plaza for shopping which makes it easier for them to attract these customers(Little Bonnys, 2006), besides this, they are placed in the heart of the city which is surrounded by the market place and one of the hot-spot for the students, who comes here to shop and dine. This provides them the opportunity to attract this audience. The restaurant has a great ambiance which speaks luxury and fines of the restaurant. The location of the advantage is that it is surrounded by the shopping place, according to the recent studies it has been found that people who go shopping usually eat between the shopping or after the shopping which is also one of the favorable situations for little Bonny’s rotisserie. The main attraction of the restaurant is the ambience, quality of the food, and service delivery(Little Bonnys, 2006).

2.2 Roles and Achievements during Internship Placement

The most valuable lesson which I have learned from my experience is that how to work efficiently in a challenging environment and how to take a prompt decision when handling the complaints of the customer(Fraser, 2019) so that customer satisfaction. I have learned how to patient with the customers and team members. Little Bonny’s rotisserie has enhanced my customer building skills, technical skills, ability to work in the team, leadership skills, and most importantly how to make yourself flexible and adaptable according to the market needs and requirements. In SBat (self-evaluation test) I have marked myself fairly and honestly. I have marked my self good in the areas such as the ability to learn new skills, punctuality, communication, and awareness about the organizational environment(Cheng and Wong, 2015). I believe I have a good hold on these skills and there are some of the areas which I need to improve they are towards the capacity to appreciate the diverse people, team-building skills that is why I have marked myself as 8 out of 10 as I am aware of the strengths but there is always a room for improvement. Work-integrated learning was a wonderful journey, there is not much I would like to add the only recommendation I would like to give that it would be wonderful to have an extra session for the students where all the queries of the students could be cleared out

3.0 Professional Impact of the Placement and Integrating University Studies with the Workplace

3.1 Management Skills and Qualities Required in the Hospitality Industry

Hospitality is one of the most uncertain, challenging, and overdemanding industries, which is growing at a tremendous pace. Due to so much competition in the industry employers need someone who is versatile and fit enough to tackle the over expectations of the customer and at the same time can adapt to the environment, they want someone who is well-versed with the soft skills and technical skills(Cheng and Wong, 2015). According to the study which was conducted by the managers and educationalists have concluded that there is a huge gap between the skills which are expected by the employers and skills which are inherited by the entry-level employees(Cheng and Wong, 2015). Shekhawat (2012) has emphasized the importance of government, employers, and educational institutes in educating a new generation about the need for soft skills in the current scenario. There has been shifted of emphasis from technical skills to soft skills, especially for the hospitality sector. This subject has been further explained by the Andrews and Higson( 2008) where they have highlighted the importance of improving the curriculum so that the students can keep the balance between the soft skills and hard skills(Phelan and Mills, 2010), they have additionally also highlighted the role of the organization for improving the performance of the employees in soft skills and technical skills(Del Valle, 2013).

3.2 Key Workplace Issues Facing Little Bonny’s rotisserie

In the above section, I have discussed the issues which I have faced during my internship, the best way to tackle such situation is to stay calm, patient and observe so that you can handle the work properly, communication is also one of the important ways through this you can voice out how you will feel, which will help them in resolving the issues most appropriately. It is important to prove yourselves by working hard so that any suggestion given by you, should be taken seriously(Jung and Kim, 2019), it is important to communicate and build a network so that co-workers can when you need them. To handle customer complaints, one should be very patient and should have good listening skills so that the complaint can be solved peacefully(Ruetzler et al., 2014). It is very important to make yourself versatile as in the hospitality sector it is important to know every domain, one should be open for any opportunity even if its challenging as practical knowledge and exposure can only help in building a new skill in the new domain. Regular meetings and engagement activity will also improve the bond between co-workers(Jung and Kim, 2019). It is important to appreciate and appreciating other for boosting the morale of the individual/team, that is why it is necessary to have a team-building activity where people can learn about each other and they issue they are facing so that with this activity they can help each other(Lee, 2017). According to the research, it is found that dispute in the team working can hamper the efficiency of the organization, that is why the organisation needs to have a team which is united and supportive then only they can achieve the organizational goals.

4.0 Conclusion

The internship is a very vital part of learning as this is the only platform in which it allows applying all the gained knowledge into the real life-based situation(Lee, 2017), it not only test your knowledge you have learned so far in the books but also provides you the knowledge about the skills which are needed to survive in the real life. Through this journey, I have self-explored myself I have found my strengths and weakness and try to improve my weak areas as much as I can. It was a very wonderful journey where I have learned so much in short duration, I have significantly improved my technical skills, interpersonal skills, soft skills and also worked on my confidence(Phelan and Mills, 2010). I have learned a lot from my hardships and how I have managed these issues have truly enhanced my professional skills and ability to think beyond the box. Before the internships, I have different expectations from my organization, but there was a lot of difference between what I wanted and what it was. In my internship, I have gained real insights about how an origination works and what exactly is the requirement for surviving in this industry
