The data seen in Table 1 provides insight into the important aspects of the university experience that social science students value the most. From the data, it can be seen that students value good teaching staff, along with flexible learning hours. For example, in their interview students stated that they appreciated when staff were supportive of students and their current circumstances with one student stating “tutors are taking into account what’s going on (4)”. As well as this, students favoured teachers being prepared for tutorials with students stating “if they’re more prepared then you get more out of it and you learn more (4)”. In addition to this, students found flexible learning hours to be beneficial to their studies as it positively impacted their wellbeing and satisfaction. One student stating that it empowers and motivates her to get her work completed. Students also valued how flexible learning hours allowed them to work around their schedule as a number of them were completing university placement.
