According to the latest research, it has been found that a total of 20,420 graduates have started working in the organized which is featured in “The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers” in 2018, around 4.3% higher recruitment has been done compared to 2017 (The Graduate Market in 2019, 2019) (see Table 2.4). the annual increase was expected too much higher but due to the several major struggles to place the graduates because of their harder to fill vacancies. According to chart 2.2 (The Graduate Market in 2019, 2019), it can be seen that around 700 people were left employed due to the insufficient application and because some of the graduates turned down the offers. 3/5th of the UK leading employers expanded their vacancies in 2018 (see Chart 2.3). according to the recent research it has been found that there has been an increase in the 9 of 15 key sectors, in which the highest rise could be seen in the accounting and professional service organizations, banking and armed forces (see Table 2.4). however, there is also a drop in the recruitment for the investment banks and entry-level for media, oil, and energy sector, pharmaceuticals and consumer sectors (Williams, 2018).

From the above statistics which highlighted the rebound recruitment in 2018, indicated that many firms in 2019 started there recruitment in the more confident way, intending to recruit those who have higher education (Williams, 2018), the latest research which assesses the vacancies confirms that that year they are were expecting to hire 9.1% more graduates (see Table 2.7), this increase is one of the highest rise in the vacancies in past 9 years. According to the researchers, it has been found that almost all the top employers are preparing to take new graduates in their recruitment. According to the study it has been found that around 12 top key firms are planning to recruit 50 more graduates in the year 2019. But there is a dip for the entry-level graduates. According to the statistics, eight big firms will be taking 500 university graduates (see Chart 2.6). the major rise of the recruitment will be seen in the sectors such as accounting, public sector, armed forces and engineers which are expected to take 14,000 vacancies (see Chart 2.5). In comparison to the final recruitment figures for 2018, vacancies for graduates are set to increase in eleven of fifteen key industries and business sectors (see Table 2.7) (Williams, 2018).

  • Learning Goal Orientation: according to the scholars it has been found that the individuals who are influenced by the learning goals and it are believed that these individuals are more open to the challenges which can provide them the opportunity to learn new skills and will also help them to expand their competencies.

  • Motivation to learn: this is also one of the attributes which are found in the graduate trainee that is motivation to learn, according to some of the scholars it is believed that the current labor market is from motivating new things and they are ready to explore the new fields as well.

The selection method which can be appropriate for selecting a method for the internship program are:

Structured Interviews: structured interview consists of specific questions that are designed in such a way to assess the knowledge, skills, and abilities ( KSA) (Pulakos, 2005). Through this interview, they can assess communication skills. Planning skills, leadership skills, soft skills and skills to adapt (Branine, 2008) t. The key advantage of this test is that it provides a uniform rating criterion so that the judge could assess the quality of the responses given by the candidate (Branine, 2008)

Disadvantages of the structured interview are:

  • There is no flexibility in this test, as there is no scope for altering the questions.

  • Determine the program needs such as who (who is required), what (purpose of taking the interns)

  • Creating an accurate job description.
