Benefits this method sampling include quickness and low cost

What are the implications of using a convenience sample on the way that you interpret and use the findings?

Convenience sampling is a form of sampling that may be utilized when random sampling is not a feasible method for the researchers (Houser, 2018). Convenience sampling is a nonprobability method of selecting research subjects and it is composed of subjects that are easily accessible to the researcher (Houser, 2018). Benefits of this method of sampling include quickness and low cost, however, the results could potentially become biased by utilizing a convenience sampling (Houser, 2018). Convenience sampling is the most widely used method of clinical research due to the inexpensive costs (Elfil & Negida, 2017). The researchers select the sample elements according to their accessibility and proximity, resulting in limitations on their sample populations (Elfil & Negida, 2017). These limitations can create issues in regards to the results not accurately representing a large population. The results may be very generalized due to the subjects all being from a specific area or a specific
socioeconomic background. Since the results would not be an accurate representation of a larger group of peoples, then the results cannot be applied to other groups outside of the sample group.

a list of all members of the population (Houser, 2018). Systematic random sampling is beneficial when the researchers do not know how many people are in the population, however, it does not produce a strict probability sample (Houser 2018). Stratified random sampling distributes important characteristics evenly amongst the population so that all subgroups are represented in a sample but are rather difficult to complete (Houser, 2018). Finally, cluster random sampling selects entire groups and then selects individuals from those groups, which is the most economic method of probability sampling (Houser, 2018).
