For this assessment you are required to identify and describe an industry organisation to be the focus of all the Assessments for this Unit and research and identify requirements and practices in relation to environmental and resource sustainability for a work group at this business.

The decision-making rules that will be followed are:

  • All requirements must be sufficiently and accurately addressed to achieve a satisfactory result.

  • Detail legislated obligations applicable to the business.

  • Evaluate options for determining organisational compliance levels with mandated environmental sustainability obligations.

  • Provide assistance with identifying suitable sources of research information.

  • Advise you of the ‘Due By Date’ for this Assessment.

  • Keep a copy for your records.

Instructions

There are two roleplays in this Assessment, and you are required to participate in both of them.

Your Assessor and/or other Learners will play the part of people you interact with during these roleplays: they will have certain things they are required to say in order to make the roleplays effective and relevant.

Read:

  • The Scenario for the roleplays – make sure you understand them: ask your Trainer to clarify anything you do not understand.

  • Ask questions or get you to repeat a statement.

  • Ask you to explain a statement.

If a competency is not observed during the time period, the Assessor will create an opportunity to repeat the roleplay (or part of it) or undertake an alternative form of assessment such as questioning or demonstration.

You must complete all tasks in the required time limit which for this roleplay is 20 minutes.

Roleplay 1 scenario

You are Work Group Leader in a business and have asked your work group to meet with you to talk about setting targets for environmental and resource efficiencies and management.

They know you have been investigating the possibility of improving the sustainable performance of the team for a couple of weeks now and have been sharing information with them that you have received from energy providers, suppliers, government agencies and peak industry bodies.

This Assessment is to be completed in your own time out-of-class but some time may be allocated by your Trainer for some in-class research and discussion. You can use material obtained as a result of previous Assessments in this Assessment.

Specific Learner instructions

  • Plan and organise work group activities to introduce and assimilate the three identified environmental and resource efficiency solutions into standard operating procedures – note that two of these will form the focus of The Practical Exercise Assessment.
