Journal Entry 1

Negotiation is the interaction between the various people having a different point of view, and beliefs regarding an issue that may lead to a resolution or mutually agreed on perception or the strategically defined course of action. It is defined as a continual interpersonal interactive process of decision making (Cleary, 2020).

Why did I select this skill to reflect on? Why is this core skill important for your development (personal and professional)? (use relevant theories and concepts from psychology and business to support your answer)

I take initiative in my peer groups for any kind of decision making. Yesterday, there was a project due date and we have to submit the group assignment. One of the members of the group refused to do his part and it was already 8 pm in the night and the time to submit the assignment was at midnight. I talked to him, listened to him patiently seeing what has made him refused, communicate with him with his issues, empathize with his situation, and tried to convince him for the importance of submission. Though it took time, he agreed and we were able to complete the work on time.

Teamwork is the collaborative effort of the members in a group to achieve a common goal and objective. It results in the completion of the task most effectively and efficiently. team working is the single thing that the employers value more than anything. When looking for the top performance. This skill has been rated very high in the organization to produce the best results(Miller, 2020).

2. Teamwork is very important. Diverse teamwork can result in the generation of new ideas and that is what is required in today’s competitive business environment. With a team, the difficult tasks can be assigned in manageable tasks to individuals working together as a group which results in inefficiency. Teamwork can result in quality output as individually it is difficult to provide quality pressure. In a team, the individuals feel valued and feel that they can contribute to the successful result. I believe that teamwork helps in accomplish the targets efficiently and on time. Faster innovations are being worked in a diverse team and I can get more learning opportunities working with a diverse team.

Introduction

It is important to identify your strengths and weaknesses and analysis them in order to discover the professional growth opportunities that may exist in the future. The interpersonal skills can be a personal as well as professional obstacle that might hinder your growth and it is important that they should be identified so that they can be improved upon for the better career goals and for the future (analysis, 2020).

The following are the weaknesses that are reflected in the journal entries. Though I manage with public speaking well still I need more practice for the same as till now it is only among small groups and generally are not associated with any goals or objectives. While going on the stage for performance, there is a fear of fumbling, there are butterflies in the stomach, and a rapid heartbeat which clearly indicates that I still have to work on all these anxiety for public speaking. For negotiating skills, there is a difference in opinion of mine to the people as they think I need to work much more on this technique so that I would be able to convince people more and without any grudges.
