Higher retention rate means higher turnover and vice versa
Ontology: Ontology is concerned with reality such as what is reality? What shapes reality? What is the relationship between each component? Reality is considered subjective and it depends on how researchers or participants perceive it. It is basically about understanding the real world, its existence, and its actions.
Keeping this concept in mind we are going to research improving employee retention rate in five-star hotels in Australia. Employee Retention can be described as efforts put by an organization to keep their employees for a longer period that can be done by developing strategies and initiatives that motivate an employee to stay for a longer period. A higher retention rate means higher turnover and vice versa. However, in the hotel industry, a lower retention rate has been observed as per the research resulting in low-quality service, low customer satisfaction, and making them less competitive in the market. The objective of this research is to understand how to improve the retention rate in five-star hotels in Australia. For this to happen we have to look at certain factors such as “what is their pay scale?”, “what is their work Environment in their organization?”, “What are their working hours?”, “How is their Supervisor Behavior?”.
Question 2: Now that you have identified your research paradigm, briefly discuss a research topic that you would like to explore for your final project. Answer 2: The topic selected for our research is using HR analytics for improving employee retention rate: the case of five-star hotels in Australia. Organizations require individuals whose performance is good and who would like to retain their employees. Retention means keeping the valued employee who will stay for a longer duration and contribute to the organization's success. Employee retention is a strategy that an organization follows to retain its employees. Employee retention is one of the critical issues that almost all organizations are facing. The changing dynamics may be due to the work environment, massive layoffs, pay scale, job satisfaction. There could be numerous reasons why there is a low retention rate. The Hospitality industry is one of the industries which faces the lowest retention rate which may lead to poor customer satisfaction ultimately resulting in decreased profitability. Through this research, we will be analyzing how the hotel industry can improve its employee retention rate ranging from maintenance staff, housekeeping staff, front desk staff, accounting staff to name a few. In this research, we are specifically considering five-star hotels in Australia. We will also analyze what are the factors that are causing low retention rates in the hotel industry. The paradigm used for this research will be the interpretivist paradigm.
