Rae barelihome assignment- natural gas engineering

  1. Explain differences between the retrograde condensation and isobaric heating processes of a natural gas using PT diagram.

  2. Explain and show variation of PVT properties with reservoir pressure on neat diagrams. Also explain the procedure of estimating these properties for surface and subsurface sampling methods.

Estimate bubble point pressure.

The system is re-compressed, expanded to 138 bar and the free gas is removed at constant pressure and then measured by further expansion to standard condition. The contained liquid volume is 388 cm3 and the measured gas volume (at 1 atm. and 15.6 oC) is 5.275 liters. The pressure is reduced to normal condition, as above, and residual liquid volume is found to be 295 cm3 and the liberated gas volume is 21 litres.

e) Bg and z at 138 bar.

  1. Given the mixture whose composition is shown in the following table

  1. Use Wichert and Aziz adjustment factor method and Standing Katz chart to calculate z factor of the mixture. Compare with the lab measured value of 0.822.

  2. Determine specific gravity and density of this sour gas mixture.
