Systems analysis and design changing world

Explanation of the System Analysis

The business system selected was the patient medical records system that allows healthcare professionals to retrieve data and make crucial decisions. In effect, the records will be in the form of electronic medical records that will be integrated with other digital records to ensure various physicians and caregivers perform various tasks efficiently. Since healthcare professionals will be able to access different files, they will need clearance from administrators and other information technology officers in the facility to enhance security. Thus, the patient medical records system will allow physicians and caregivers to make appropriate diagnoses that speed up the delivery of services in the facility (Satzinger, Burd & Jackson, 2015). Since they will be able to access a patient’s health history, healthcare professionals will know the best care they need to offer to patients at a given period to help them overcome the various challenges they face. Consequently, they will recommend appropriate medications and therapies related to the information they obtain from each individual patient’s health history. As a result, they will be able to safeguard the privacy of patient information because the facility seeks to guarantee all patients a higher degree of confidentiality in dealings it has with them.

Success or Failure

The project is a success because it enabled the organization to integrate vital functions relating to patient care and clinical decision making in the department. In hindsight it allows clinicians to get adequate data from electronic medical records that ensures they make accurate diagnoses leading to improved outcomes. In the same vein, the cost is justifiable because the patient medical records system is hosted on servers within the premises and on the organization’s, cloud thereby ensuring confidential and sensitive data is secured. It is also interoperable with other systems such as billing and training modules ensuring that all workflow processes in the organization are executed efficiently (Harman, Flite & Bond, 2012). Crucially, the choice made is correct because it enables all users to operate different features easily based on authentication protocols established. Essentially, high levels of security have ensured that the system is customized to reflect different workplace needs so that the desired outcomes are realized. For this reason, the system will increase patient satisfaction rates in the facility because clients will be able to share their feelings regarding the quality of services they get. However, one main failure of the system is many clinicians cannot access it from remote locations, but it is mainly due to the existing wide area network that has not been upgraded to conform to the installed system.
