The goal apple competitor and match quality and pricing

2 Brand Comparison Paper
Pricing Strategy

Apple’s market covers a wide range of customers, though the target market are those consumers who enjoy luxury and the best. They do not go out of their way to target lower income markets. IPhones are most Apple products exude quality and their pricing backs that up. Most consumers can purchase the new Apple iPhone 6 at a discounted rate when then sign a two year contract with one of the major cell phone service providers. At full market value the iPhone 6 ranges from $199 to $849 depending on storage capacity and contract. Apples pricing strategy has served them well and gained them the reputation of high end products that meet customers’ expectations and needs.

Overall both phones are quality products, but there is one major difference, the branding.

Although the Galaxy S5 comes in very nice packaging itself, it in no way compares to the packaging the iPhone has, and that is the difference. Although some may find a lot more value in the Galaxy S5 considering its price point, purchasing an Apple product is an experience, and this iPhone 6 is no different. The Samsung cannot duplicate the sleek design of the packaging, along with how the phone feels in your hand the first time you open it up. It is that experience that people are willing to pay the extra money for.

The most distinguishing features between the two phones are the dimensions, and camera clarity. There are more but these two are important to consumers when shopping for phones. The iPhone is smaller than the Samsung but weighs almost the same because of the aluminum outer covering. The Samsung has a camera with a 16 megapixel focus, as opposed to the eight provided by the iPhone. Picture clarity is everything for the people who live rugged lives, and take pictures while traveling. Despite the technical enhancements of the phones, the iPhone or any product from Apple has an apple symbol as the logo. Both phones have their own features, but appeal to the public in different ways. Each phone has technological advancements that the other one lacks, but each appeals to the five brand personalities individually.

While the iPhone 6 is smooth and seamless easily used in one hand. The Samsung Galaxy s5 has both soft and hard plastic and the phone is larger and not easily handled one handed. The iPhone 6 feels expensive while the Samsung phone does not match up to the feel of quality (S. Davidson, 2013). Apple does a quality job on making the iPhone user-friendly and well organized. Samsung has new fingerprint technology but needs to be scanned at the right angle to access the phone and is not easily done one-handed. Apple’s App store still offers best quality apps. The Apple holds its value and quality.

The release dates for Apple products is more popular and often do better than competitors, including Samsung (Kypreos, E., 2014).
