Metal Wristwatch Essay
In those following days the thought of the shiny metal watch kept crawling into my mind and soon I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Many of my friends had their own shiny metal watches and it further cemented the picture of the metal wristwatch behind the glass display case. The thought of the watch danced in my mind for several days, the watch almost begging me to buy it. Several days turned into weeks and I had still not given in to buying it. I had no real purpose for such a nice looking watch other than for vanity. But the thought of the watch kept coming up everywhere.Talking to friends, walking to school, even in my dreams I saw the watch just glowing, looking like some hidden treasure never before having hands laid on it before. Day after day the image of the watch would flash into my mind, teasing me to buy it.
All other watches seem to be nothing compared to it and soon my other wristwatches did not seem to be as great anymore. The watch was a burning reminder that I wouldn’t be able to find anything as close to it that would satisfy the same way. No other watch could come close to its shiny metallic glow and its smooth ticking of the time.
The numbers on the dial seeming to float on the blue background like numbered sailboats on the water. Even in the dark, the blue background shone and highlighted the dial even outshining the glow in the dark numbers. The word “TIMEX” on the top center accenting the blue background and dominating the rest of the numbers and notches.
The metal strap shiny and smooth to the touch. The strap looking like shiny scales of a snake slithering around my wrist. the clinking sound of the metal strap as it goes up and down while being worn. The snap and click as the clasp is closed around the wrist. Music to the ears. After a while, although it did not lose its appeal, I decided to not wear it so much and decided to wear it when I only needed it. The watch now lies in my clothes drawer waiting to be worn again. On some special occasion or just when the mood strikes will I take it out and wear it.
