Exploratory: In case of an exploratory research design the researcher conducts initial research in order to clarify and define a problem as well as to gain insights and in facr discover new ideas on the research topic. Examples can be such as exploratory research design on “where young teenagers are gather information on personal finance from and are they concerned about saving their money?”

Therefore, in this case the researcher is looking for subsequently undertaking research so as to provide more “conclusive” evidence. Common Techniques to do exploratory research are collection of secondary data, conducting pilot studies, focus groups, in depth interviews with participants, observational research.

Q2) We discussed eight different sampling techniques. Name and briefly define all eight sampling techniques. After doing so, suggest a context or situation when it would be appropriate to use that sampling technique.

Sampling techniques are divided as : probability sampling and non-probability sampling. Based on this division the following 8 sampling techniques can be defined:

  1. Convenience sampling: this is a nonprobability sampling technique in which the potential respondents are chosen based on the convenience of the researcher to reach them. E.g. I can conveniently ask all my friends their perception of online shopping on Zara app. However, they might not be my true representative sample.

  2. Snowball sampling: In this non probability sampling method, the researcher will recruit one (or few) initial participant(s) and then those participants will further recruit additional participants who they think will be appropriate to be included. That is the initial participants will refer further participants. E.g., I invite my classmate to fill the survey and he further posts the survey link on his Facebook to recruit more participants.

Out of the 202 respondents, 25.25% of the respondents (n = 51; N=202) attended the class sessions in person while the rest of 75% (n=151) respondents attended online class sessions. In the sample, there were a total of 101 male respondents and 101 female respondents. Of the total male respondents; 18.8% of the respondents (n = 19) attended the class in person while 81.2% (n=82) male respondents attended classes sessions online. Of the total female respondents, 31.7% (n=32) participated in person while the rest of 68.3%(n=69) participated online.

therefore, in this case, the type I error will be that we rejected our hypothesis that the accused is not guilty. Jury gave him verdict of guilty even though in reality the null hypothesis was accurate and should not have been rejected.

Thus, by committing the type I error the ACCUSED WAS CONSIDERED GUILTY even though in reality he was not guilty. The jury’s decision was incorrect because they pronounced him GUILTY even though he was accurately not guilty. This is a type I error.
