This was the major reason behind selecting the sdg goal and the country
According to substantial research, it has been found that a high rate of poverty in a country could substantially reduce the long-term competitiveness and productivity of the country, this notion has been laid down because many of the research has pointed out the children who grew up in poverty tend to have limited access towards higher education and they are less likely prepared for high skill jobs which reduces the overall competitiveness of the country (World Economic Forum, 2019). Therefore, for India, poverty is one of the major and challenging issues that they need to eradicate in order to create a sustainable future. The main aim of the sustainable development goals is to provide a better future for tomorrow, in that context the main priority and the focus for India should be towards achieving SDG goal 1, They can have a prosperous, competitive, sustainable, productive economy in the future if they become successful in removing the poverty. Poverty is one of the major challenges for any country, however for a country like India, this issue should be a priority, where only a certain percentage of the people are benefiting from the economic boom, one of the major drivers of poverty is the unequal distribution of the income, high illiteracy rate and unemployment rate, successful eradication of this issues will solve many other major problems of the country such as an increase in higher education, high employment rate, more sanitization, and healthy lifestyle. This was the major reason behind selecting the SDG goal and the country, as for India to have a rich life, productive future, and prosperous economic development, it is vital for them to focus on this goal.
