You are working in a haematology laboratory, and you need to assess the white cell blood count for a patient.

1. Explain how you would prepare the sample to be examined under the microscope, including the types of stains and their target (40 MARKS).

2. Once you have prepared your sample, you can observe the following by inspection under the microscope:

Identify at least 3 cell types by drawing arrows/circles on the image above (40 MARKS).

3. Briefly explain how you can diagnose that this patient suffers from leukaemia by looking at the image above (20 MARKS).
