At a minimum, you have been asked to address the following questions and tasks:

1. What is the difference in potential flood areas between the two tsunami-related scenarios (i.e., 3m vs 6m flood), accounting for the effect of tidal flow up the rivers?

2. How many people per community ward are potentially affected by the flooding?

3. What infrastructure may be impacted per ward, specifically in terms of:

a. The number and types of critical infrastructure points?

b. The length of water supply, stormwater drainage, and wastewater drainage pipes?

c. The total number and area of building structures?

4. You should then conduct your own research obtaining additional data from the internet to examine a range of other environmental, social, economic and cultural impacts to plan how these impacts would be prioritised and managed in such a disaster. These should include potential impacts on essential services such as medical facilities, transport links, refuge areas, shelter, food, power, water supplies, cultural sites and hazards (such as chemical waste facilities). You should include at least four additional sequences of analysis (not just individual functions or commands) learned from your vector and raster lab exercises or any other advanced topics you wish to explore.

5. Support and discuss your work with references to literature describing emergency responses to natural disasters and their management, particularly in regard to the use of GIS in these situations, whether in New Zealand or overseas.
