Page 3of 8Assignment TaskThis assignment consists of two parts, PART A and PART B. To complete the assignment, you must complete PART A first, followed by PART B. If you do not complete PART A you cannot complete PART Band any Part B submission will not be marked and will be treated as a non-submission. PART APlease refer to your module page for your tutor name and email address. Before or during week four contact your tutor to discuss the type of Pro Bono or professional practice opportunity that you wish to engage in. There isguidance given on finding an opportunity in Lesson One. Whether you are using ongoing professional practice or volunteering work or engaging in a new opportunity you should obtain consent from the supplying organisation using the consent form. There is no need to obtain consent from individual clients as you are reflecting on your own experience rather than researching the client’s experience. Before the end of week five complete the Pro Bono opportunity agreement form and the consent form and submit to yourtutorbyemail. Your tutor will sign your agreement form which agrees that the Pro Bono or professional practice opportunity is appropriate. If a consent form is required, the agreement form will not be signed off until the consent form has beenreceived by your tutor. If appropriate, we reserve the right to require you to obtain ethical approval for your Pro Bono or professional practice opportunity. Ethical approval may be needed if for example, you are working with vulnerable parties. Ethical approval may be required in other circumstances. Ethical approval will require you to apply to the Ethics Committee who will sign off your agreement form. This will take longer than the usual agreement process and you should build extra time into your schedule to take account of this. YOU MUSTinformally discuss your opportunity with your tutor, before completing the consent or agreement forms. Once you have received your signed off agreement form you can then complete your Pro Bono or professional practice opportunity and move onto PART B. Page 4of 8You may find it helpful to keep reflective notes, in the form of a blog, journal, video diary or podcast during your Pro Bono or professional practice experience. These, like your reflective essay should maintain anonymity. PART B Write a critically reflective essay which reflects on your experiences engaging in Pro Bono or professional legal practice during the course of this module. Your essay should refer to relevant reflective theory,and,where appropriate,law, professional conduct, legal and general skills and legal theory. Remember that this is a critically reflective essay, so the focus should be your experience.
