Details of task: The aim of this assessment task is to demonstrate a) your reading and insights into two leadership theories and b) your thinking about application of one of them in a future context a context for clinical leadership in nursing. The written assignment will consist of two parts – Part A (1,200-1,500 words) and Part B (800-1,000 words). In Part A of the assignment will compare and contrast two leadership theories. In Part B of the assignment you will consider how one of these theories could be applied in your future practice in a nursing context. PART A of the assessment Instructions for Part A of the assignment 1) Read about Transformational leadership and Authentic leadership. 2) For Part A of the assignment we want you to compare and contrast Transformational leadership and Authentic leadership theories. As you seek to compare and contrast the theories you should also describe the history of the theories, the key components or features of the theories, and identify what contemporary nursing proponents of the theories argue about their relevance to nursing leadership. PART B of the assessment Instructions for Part B of the assignment 1) For Part B of the assignment we want you to consider how you could apply these ONE of these theories in your future clinical leadership. 2) In this part of the essay you will: Choose one theory (Authentic or Transformational leadership) that you will apply to practice. Write a leadership scenario / context that could be a future situation/context. Discuss how you would use this theory as part of your clinical leadership practice in this situation/context. Explore the likely implications and outcomes that could be gained from using this theory in your practice. Draw the discussion to a conclusion. Release date: 29 July 2019 Due date: 5pm Monday 23rd September 2019 Word limit: 2,000 - 2,500 words Value: 40% (Hurdle) Presentation requirements: Pages should be numbered in the bottom right corner Student ID number should be in the footer of each page.
