Write an essay which provides a critical evaluation of the following paragraph:

“The High Court judgement against the directors of failed construction company Mainzeal for breaches of several directors’ duties is a welcome result. The reckless, dishonest and self-interested actions of the Mainzeal directors are representative of New Zealand’s poor standards of corporate governance. This case will provide a much-needed reminder to directors that company law requires them to put the interests of creditors ahead of those of shareholders, and that they may be held personally liable for all losses incurred by creditors as a result of their poor business decisions”.

• Focus strongly on the key words and phrases used in the passage and incorporate them into your answer
