Assignment Instructions

Take the role of Chief Human Resources Officer for your organisation. Describe this year's business strategy and objectives, key organisational demographics, and relevant aspects of organisational structure and processes.

From your knowledge of the business and the workforce, identify the most significant or important job for future business success. Include a competency profile for the critical job. Provide a justification for your selection, illustrating the link to your organisation's current business strategy.

Using methods of job analysis and job design, critically review the current position description of the critical job. Based on your review, as CHRO, what recommendations would you make to enhance the position description? Include a justification for your recommendations.

Using the UNE Library, find one article from a peer-reviewed academic journal, relating to job analysis, work design, or skills/competencies. Summarise one key finding of this article and discuss the implications for the critical job you selected. Remember to incorporate relevant theory and concepts from this unit in your analysis.

Assignment Guidelines

This assignment is compulsory to submit.

Failure to submit by the due date results in a penalty deduction of 5 percentage points per day or partial day, according to UNE's Assessment Guideline.

You should master Topics 1–6, before attempting this assignment.

You may or may not have the formal role of CHRO in your organisation today. For the purpose of this assignment, you should imagine you are the CHRO.

If you are between employment, you can use your former organisation for this assignment. Or, you can select an Australian organisation with a prominent media profile (e.g. Telstra, Qantas, Westpac) for this assignment, leveraging publicly available information to write your critical analysis and justifications.

When selecting an article for this assignment, you need to find one new article from the UNE Library. You may (and should) incorporate knowledge and concepts from prescribed readings in the Reading List, but you still need one additional article.

Formatting Guidelines

An abstract, introduction, and conclusion are not required.

Use Australian spelling and grammatical conventions in your assignment.

Remain within the allocated word count range. Headings, references, the reference list, cover page, and appendices do not form part of the word count.

You may provide a copy of the current position description, if available, as an appendix.

You may choose to provide additional supplementary material in an appendix, but do not use this as a means of providing vital information specific to answering the question. Material in appendices is not reviewed when allocating marks for this assignment.

Use APA Seventh Edition style of referencing for citations in the body of your assignment. Consult the Academic Skills Office's

APA reference guide for examples and guidance. Provide a reference list at the end of the assignment, using APA Seventh Edition style.
