Introduction 

The given report outlines my personal development plan on the basis of my work experience. I have worked in a Clinical Laboratory as well as in the pharmacy of the hospital. An analysis of my work experience has helped me in creating personal development plan for myself. The report discusses my job role, the duties endowed upon me, my success rate in carrying out my duties and areas where I need development.

Personal development plan 

I have worked in two different departments of a hospital, the first one being assigned in the clinical laboratory and the second job assigned in the pharmacy. In both the jobs I had been endowed upon with certain responsibilities which had to be executed within the stipulated time period. The personal development plan will be helpful in assessing how the duties have been carried out. A personal development plan consists of an action plan which is formulated on the basis of values, ethics and goals of an individual in relation to their career (Avolio 2010). It helps in analyzing the strong points of an individual and the areas where it needs to improve as well as helps in achieving their targeted goals (Skipton Leonard and Lang 2010).

As a medical laboratory technician, I had jobs relating to management as well as medical treatment. A laboratory technician has to carry out various duties like matching computer order, performing various medical tests, identifying the necessary equipments, assembling the reports, administering the quality of work and communicating with the patients (Holden 2011). On the other hand, as a pharmacist, I had to perform tasks which were totally different. A pharmacist is given the task of supplying and acquiring the medical products which are required in the hospital (Lea et al. 2012). Various operations are to be performed like providing the appropriate medicines on the basis of the prescriptions, documenting the use of medicines and assuring the security of the medical supplies (White and Klinner 2012). All these duties had to be executed in the given time period. I was successful in executing my duties effectively. I believe in working in a systematic manner. Due to this, I had the habit of arranging my tasks at the start of the day and keeping time in between for carrying out last moment responsibilities. This helped me in executing my duties within the given time period as well as helped me in learning time management. Due to my excellent time management and organization skills, I was shifted to the pharmacy department. As a manager in the pharmacy department, I executed my duties with the same manner like I did in the past. My past experience in the laboratory department had acquainted me with my mistakes, which I made certain not to repeat in this job. My job also required multi-tasking. Multi-tasking in the medical field needs to be done very carefully, as smallest of mistakes can cause big problems (Sanbonmatsu et al. 2013). Apart from professional life duties, there are certain personal life responsibilities as well which need to executed equally effectively to achieve success in life (Karpinski et al. 2013). Being a multi-tasking expert and efficient management skills, I was able to balance my personal and professional life.

Apart from the certain household chores, there were certain tasks which had to be performed by me specifically in my personal life which included managing the finance of the house and managing the bank accounts of the family members. Just like my office duties, I perform my household duties in a planned manner as well. I plan a budget every month and try to follow it. A percentage of the salary is also kept apart as savings. I feel that I execute my personal life responsibilities as efficiently as my professional life duties.

I believe in a disciplined life and I feel, in the ladder of success, discipline is the first step taken by an individual. My managerial skills were appreciated at my workplace, which makes me feel that I was successful in delivering the requirements of the job. To evaluate my progress level, I keep taking regular feedbacks from my team leaders. One should always measure the level of success to evaluate where they stand in their lives and to accomplish future goals successfully (Snell and Bohlander 2010).  Though I am doing well currently, I have certain goals that I wish to accomplish in the future. Coming from the medical field and having work experience in laboratory and pharmacy, I plan to open a pharmaceutical store of my own. My goals can be evaluated on the basis of SMART principles.

The success of my goal is measurable as how the steps taken by me towards my goals will help in measuring its success rate.

The goal is achievable as I belong to medical background and have experience in the related field.

Being worked in the respective department, and being successful as well, shows the relevance of the goal.

T-time period

The goal can be achieved after proper research and planning within a time period of 6 months.

Though I have been successful in executing my duties, I have certain weaknesses as well. My strengths and weaknesses are:

WEAKNESSES

· Short-tempered

· Lack of motivation

· Lack of knowledge of technical updates and inventions

In order to accomplish my goal, I need to overcome my weaknesses. Temperamental issues will not help in achieving my goals. Being ambitious is just not enough, I need to be continuously motivated so that I can perform my duties and aim for higher targets. I need to take initiatives to update myself about technological updates as well. Opening a pharmaceutical store comes with many responsibilities, and in order to be successful, the weaknesses have to be worked on.

Conclusion 

My personal development plan has helped me in analyzing my strengths and weaknesses as well as analyzing my roles in both personal and professional lives. I have discussed my future goals and have also realized the various areas where I need to develop so that I can accomplish my goals.
