BUS 201 Creativity Innovation and Design

1. The reflective piece must address the emotional and cognitive journey you have undertook, throughout the semester. It should not be a log or a diarised exposition of what took place over the semester.

2. The reflective piece should provide reflection on what your initial expectations of the course were and how (if at all) they have changed over the journey.

3. The reflective piece must highlight your learning outcomes, and explain how those learning outcomes will affect your behaviour in the future. Areas such as the creative process, conflict management, team cohesion, communication and planning etc must all be discussed and considered as part of the journey.

4. You must always support these experiences with a theoretical foundation, largely because only a reflection based on a sound theoretical foundation can a true represent a reflective journey.

Answer

Creativity, Innovation and Design.

The media fraternity is a wide industry which consists of printing, film, television and radio. My main interest however in the media school was to specialize in filmmaking rather than all the other disciplines. The film industry consists of, being a film director which would, however, be achieved mainly through experience, video coverage but to start with one would have to study being a camera operator.

Creativity in the media industry had always been intriguing, I always felt that there is something that could be improved upon .This was one of my major motivation while join

ing the media fraternity. I wanted to innovate and especially improve the film industry since this was my passion, to become a professional photographer. I was motivated to bring something that has not been in a long time to the media industry (Cadava, 2018).

A happy audience is always the key to success during photography (Marwah, et al 2013 pg. 49), this has always been the biggest part of my motivation. I expected photography to be a simple process from taking of random pictures and recording of videos. This however to my dismay it was not the case, the camera operator has the mandate to choose the right chronological order of events and also the operator’s ability to capture the scene with as much appeal as possible to the audience. This aspect made photography more professional and also more fun (Rose, 2016 pg. 113)

During the semester as I proceeded with my media studies, this has a remarkable impact on my thought about creativity, innovation and design. I was able to understand how I could use a creative mind during my taking of photos, maybe by the use of a good background to ensure that the photo I took could satisfy my audience as well as my ego. My aspect of innovation was also greatly impacted since the media industry could use a lot of innovation from the use more digitally involved cameras in filming, however, my aspect of the design was not impacted much.

The media industry has various challenges the biggest being competition. Competition is on the high, many media personalities are battling to have the best content. The course am learning is equipping me with the necessary tools needed to cope with the industry by giving me the best education possible to try and outsmart the others .This can also be achivedd through the use the right and most recent technology to always produce the best results possible (Ryan, 2013 pg. 87).

The media course has had a tremendous impact in the way I view media, it’s not only about photography, and it is a wide fraternity with many industries in it which one can easily venture into .previously it was about photography ,the course has impacted me great as I can now think about film editing and making of films .

As you can most likely envision, the media is quickly paced and greatly focused. On the off chance that you can deal with the weights tossed at you, it very well may be an exceptionally energizing approach to bring home the bacon. In addition, there are actually a large number of various jobs you can investigate. As a member of the media industry, photography is about the innovative procedure and investigating thoughts through pictures, yet keeping in mind the end goal to truly make extraordinary pictures you have to set up an arrangement for your own particular advancement; particularly centred around abilities, motivation, reason as well as yield. By handling these components you can centre your psyche and build up your work, to enable you to create better and more refined craftsmanship each time you go out on the area. One has to know how to manage a conflict in case one arises. A conflict may arise from a director or maybe from the audience. The purpose should be achieving the goal which is ensuring that the audience is satisfied with all aspects aside (Stepchenkova, Zhan, 2013).

The biggest role and impact that media has played is showing how to work in unison; the director, film crew and the camera operator must all find an understanding and work together in order to achieve the desired goal. This involves the sharing of ideas amongst them with their main goal being the satisfaction of the audience. The crew should also communicate in case something is wrong or in case one of the members have a different approach towards the photo shoot in mind. This communication is crucial as it helps the team understand each other better and in achieving this the client or audience is always satisfied (Wells, 2015).

Conclusively, photography has been a great learning experience for me, I have acquired in-depth knowledge on taking photos more than what was in mind while starting the semester and the experience was great as well as adventurous.
