The hypothesis to be tested is as follows:
H0: There is no significant relationship between age, gender, marital status, political affiliation and whether marijuana should be legalized.
H1: There is a significant relationship between age, gender, marital status, political affiliation and whether marijuana should be legalized.
The research design appropriate for this question would be correlational research design (Chattterjee, 2012). The dependent variable used is whether marijuana should be legalized and is measured as a nominal variable. The independent variables used are age and gender and they are measured as ordinal variable and nominal variable respectively. Other variables added into the model are, marital status, and political affiliation. The justification of adding this variables as control variables is that apart from gender and age there are other factors that could influence on whether marijuana should be legalized or not.

Table 1 above indicates the results from SPSS, for both age and gender, the p-value is less than α at 0.05 (Tutz, 2012). Therefore, we will fail to accept the null hypothesis and conclude that there is relationship between age, gender and whether marijuana should be legalized.
