Answer:

Drunk driving is one of the major problems that are grabbing the attention of the government. It has been noticed that in the United States, the drunk and drive is one of the major reasons behind the road accidents. Often it has been noticed that the people who are arrested because of driving in an intoxicated state, are mostly teenagers. Hence, the discussion will be focused on the responses suggesting the possible solutions for this problem.

As it has been noticed that the incidents of road accidents are increasing because of the increasing practice of drunk drive. Moreover, according to the reports, the cases of drunk drive is mostly practiced by teenagers. In this regard it has been pointed out that raising the minimum age of legalized drinking can be regarded as an effective solution to the problem. In the United States, the legal age of drinking is 21 (Stinson et al. 2014). It can be said that increasing the minimum age will not be effective as the in most of the cases the people practicing drunk and drive are found to be between the age group of 15-20. However, it will be effective reducing these incidents to some extent.

Another effective move to restrict the drivers from getting intoxicated while driving, is to prohibiting alcohol in moving cars (Goswami et al. 2014). It has been noticed that the risks of being involved in an accident increases due to the freshly consumed alcohol. Hence, barring the drivers to keep alcohol in a moving car will reduce the chance of accidents.

However, it can be said that the government and police have to be more careful in handling the problem. Strict enforcement of existing rules and regulations are important in this regard.
