Introduction
The aims/purpose of the presentation
This presentation aims to discuss the cases of financial abuse of the older people in the UK.
The problem of the financial abuse of the older people is very common in the UK, and many older people have been affected by the problem. This has prompted the UK government to come up with various preventive measures and laws to address this problem for the benefit of the older people who are at great risks of facing financial abuse.

I decided to choose the topic of financial abuse of the older people in the UK since it’s a contemporary issue which affects many UK citizens.
Financial abuse of the older people has many impacts on their lives and some of these impacts include causing some psychological problems and some health problems especially mental health problems, and these problems are part of the healthcare field. Therefore, this topic is justified as it is in line with the areas covered in the healthcare field (Ell, 2018).
The research and why it’s important in health
This research mainly concentrated on discussing the major cases of financial abuse of the older people and some of the major impacts of the abuse. From the research, we found that financial abuse has a great impact on the health of the affected victims, and that’s why this research is important in the field of healthcare.
It helps us to understand some of the major measures which can be applied to address the cases of financial abuse of the older people, and this will have a positive impact on their health (Davidson, Rossall, and Hart, 2015).
The research process/strategy
To get the information I needed from the articles, I used skim reading where I went through the whole articles to get the most important information presented by the articles.
I also reviewed the available literature from the other relevant scholarly materials to enhance my understanding of the cases of financial abuse of the older people in the UK. I took some major points from these two articles which helped me to understand them well and how they relate to the other articles which have discussed this topic.
The main challenge which I faced in the research process is getting the most important points from the articles as they had given so many details and points which seemed to be almost equally important.
An overview of the first article (Financial Abuse Evidence Review)
The main aim of this article was to address the problem of financial abuse of the older people in the UK comprehensively. It aimed to address this problem in details where it concentrated on its prevalence, its causes, its impacts, its prevention, its future trends, among other aspects of the problem.
The article used both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to meet its aims. Qualitative research was used to analyze and present some textual information/data while quantitative research was used to analyze and present some statistical (numerical) data and information about the research. The authors of the article integrated these two research methodologies effectively to meet their objectives.
An overview of the second article (Safeguarding older people from abuse and neglect)
The main aim of this article was to discuss various measures which have been put aside to help in safeguarding the older people from abuse and neglect. The article discusses various laws and various organizations which safeguard the older people from abuse and neglect.
This article mainly used qualitative research methodology to analyze and present its findings. The article presents its main findings in textual form which is one of the major forms used to analyze and present data/information in qualitative research.
The required data and information in this article was collected from the relevant organizations which have discussed the topic of safeguarding the older people from abuse and neglect in the UK.
Data analysis/Findings/critical appraisal of the first article (Financial Abuse Evidence Review)
The findings of this article are credible and valid. The credibility and the validity of the findings result from the fact that the authors of the article took their time to do thorough research from the relevant primary and secondary resources to get credible and valid information about the problem of the financial abuse of the older people in the UK (Davidson, Rossall, and Hart, 2015, pp.1-31).
Conclusion
These pieces of research can improve the health conditions of the older people who face the problem of financial abuse in the UK. The first article has given some preventive measures which can be applied to help in reducing the cases of financial abuse of the older people.
As we saw, one of the negative impacts of financial abuse of the older people is affecting their health negatively, and so, reducing the cases of financial abuse of the older people will help to improve their health status.
The second article advises the older people what they should do when they face some cases of abuse and neglect, and by doing so, the problems of abuse and neglect will be reduced resulting in a positive impact on the health of the older people.
