ICT115 Introduction to Systems Design 14 - Free Samples to Students

Briefly describe how would you obtain the information needed for the development of a use case model to analyse the requirements of the proposed system. Draw a Use Case Diagram and document use case descriptions to represent the required functionality of the system.

Establish a scholarly supported argument, discussing the benefits of offering a mobile application in addition to the website. You may start by exploring perceptions of, and behaviours related to, the use of mobile apps in similar businesses. You must use at least five references to support your argument.

Develop a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) – organized by product and in at least three levels of details – for the front-end of a mobile application, which helps the management to understand the scope and complexity of the development project. You are required to demonstrate how the suggested WBS can be used by the management.

Answer:

Introduction

The Scene Brokers is an organization which is looking to deploy a website for managing its current business operations and achieving better customer engagement levels. The report focuses on three relevant areas as use case modelling & information gathering techniques, benefits of mobile application to the organization, and work breakdown structure for the project.

Use Case Diagram is a behaviour diagram that provides the details of the system and its requirements. There are varied sets of data that are required for the development of adequate use case diagram and for effective use case modelling. The primary technique that will be used for gathering the information sets will be interviews. The interviews will be conducted with the employees of the company, end-users of the system, and the organization stakeholders. The detailed expectations of each of these entities will be achieved through the interview processes. The automated tools will then be applied to analyse the response. Group discussions among these entities and groups will also be arranged for the purpose of information collection (Misbhauddin and Alshayeb, 2013). The exploration of new ideas will be done as a result. Observation is anoth

er technique that will be given shape for data gathering. The existing system will be observed and analysed in terms of its issues, gaps, and areas of improvement. The system behaviour will be determined accordingly and the same will be modelled in the use case diagram.

Benefits of Mobile Application

There is a website that The Scene Brokers will be deploying to mark web presence and connect with the individual and business customers. The deployment of the website will allow the organization to gain benefits in terms of expanded user base, faster resolution to the customer queries, enhanced reachability, and better management of the data sets. There will be further benefits provided to the organization with the implementation of a mobile application along with the website.

The Scene Brokers is a part of the industry that witnesses the entry of new parties on a frequent basis. There is existing competition which will further increase in the years to come. The company will succeed in making its name in the market only when it offers enhanced and unique services to its customers (Schmitz, Bartsch and Meyer, 2016). Business mobility is one of the factors that will allow the company to have a distinguished name The mobile application that is proposed will provide increased business and enterprise mobility. The application will be designed as per the latest technology and will include advanced data analytics concepts that will ensure that the business functions are carried out on the basis of the real-time data.

Enhanced Customer Engagement

The primary mode of accessing the web has gradually shifted to the mobile devices and platforms. The Smartphones in the present times are being used to carry out the business operations, professional tasks, and personal activities. With the increase in the use of Smartphones and other mobile devices, the customers wish to have a dedicated mobile application for every business enterprise. The mobile application of The Scene Brokers will be in accordance with the customer preferences and expectations which will enhance the customer engagement levels. The customers will be able to make booking in flash of seconds using the mobile application. They may also sync the payment options and it will take only a few seconds to do the entire process (Ford, 2013). The company may also release alerts for the customers to inform them about their bookings and send reminders accordingly. The promotional offers may also be communicated using the mobile application by sending the application notifications on the same. Customer support services will also be included in the application. All of these functionalities will lead to the enhancement in the engagement levels of the customers.

Personalization & Customization

There are limited options in the website to customize them as per the user likes and preferences. The customization and personalization options increase in the mobile applications. The mobile application for the company shall be developed as per the responsive web design methodology. The methodology will allow the application to react and respond as per the user options. The use of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) principles will enable the application to be personalized in terms of color tone, application theme, and likewise (Morris et al., 2016).

There will be segmented customer profiles that the organization will be able to look at after the deployment of the mobile application. The real-time data handling and analytics will also ensure that the customers are provided with the services as per the preferences and choices. The application will have the necessary features highlighted and the visual appeal will be developed in such a manner that the users are able to understand the flow of the applications along with the ability to achieve enhanced user experience levels. The navigation on the application screens will be kept smooth so that the users may understand the application flow and are provided with the ease of usage.

The ability to achieve the above set of benefits with the introduction of the mobile application in the organization will make sure that the customer base is expanded. The organization will also be able to identify and implement new business opportunities. The competitive edge will be achieved with the setting up and implementation of the application which will allow earning better profits and revenues (Fang et al., 2017).

There are various functional aspects that will be included in the mobile application for The Scene Brokers. However, the above benefits will be achieved only when the adequate combination of functional and non-functional requirements will be achieved and will be met. There will be system qualities, such as enhanced performance, application reliability, security, and usability that will be necessary to be adhered to so that the application benefits are gained.

Work Breakdown Structure

The methodology that is recommended for the mobile application for The Scene Brokers is Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK). It is a project management methodology that is defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The methodology provides the management guidelines in five process groups and the same will be followed in the project. Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is a graphical representation of the project activities in a hierarchical manner (Fanning, 2014). The process groups involved in the mobile application development project are shown in the image above. It will start with the initiation phase in which the application feasibility determination and chartering will be done. The planning of the project will be done in the next process group. It will be one of the most significant stages of the project as the base of the project will be set in this phase. The schedule for the conduction of the mobile application development will be decided in this phase along with the costing. The other project areas will be planned out in this stage. The practical execution and implementation will be done in the third and fourth process groups with the conduction of the activities as application design, source code development, application testing, and its implementation (Jamali and Oveisi, 2016). The last phase in the project will be the final evaluation and closure. The use of these phases and stages will ensure that there are milestones set and achieved in every phase of the project to achieve the end-goal.

Conclusion

It is recommended that the website and mobile application for The Scene Brokers are amalgamated with security tools and controls. The practice will be necessary to prevent and avoid the various forms of security risks, attacks, and breaches. Administrative and technical controls shall be synced along with the web portals and applications.
