Scenario #1 - Search Strategy: A grade 5 student comes into the school library complaining that he has to do a research project, and he doesn’t know how to get started. His teacher suggested that he ask the library technician (that’s you in this scenario) for help in putting together a “search strategy”. He’s not sure what that is. How would you help this student? What steps would you encourage him to take?

His teacher suggested that he ask the library technician (that’s you in this scenario) for help in putting together a “search strategy”. He’s not sure what that is. How would you help this student? What steps would you encourage him to take?"

In order to effectively start a research it is important that the student follows a type of search strategy tools so that they are able to get hold of the desired data for the project they want to do. In the library as well the student can follow certain steps which could help them to find the required data and information about the project among all the other books and materials available in the library, both in physical form and web. Some steps that the students can follow are:
The first step that the student should take up to first design the structure of the project they would follow for the project. It will include the topics to be searched and the actual objective of the project (Kumar and Mallinath 2015).
Secondly they should come up with specific and unique terms to carry out web search so that they can get a streamline search result.
Thirdly they can use minus operators that is using all possible keywords on the search box while searching for a required information. 
Fourthly, physical research can be carried out in the library by searching the required book in the library database and the shelf it is kept on. This will help in reducing search time. This can be done by the library staff for the student (Goates, Nelson and Frost 2017).
Lastly, the student can then jot down the searched points under the structure that they have made before starting the search.
These are some of the steps they need to follow in order to carry out an effect search for the project in the library.
