Introduction

The purpose of this essay is to determine two of the most relevant ethical issues that are prevalent in the Australian universities when international students come to Australia for the studies (Banks, 2015). The students face lot of problems due to certain reasons. These problems will be discussed here along with the ways of how these issues can be resolved. These issues are very important in the context of the benefit of the international students in Australia.

Identification of Issue One

The first issue that has been selected is about the cultural diversity that the international students face in the Australian universities. It has been seen several times that the international students have been the victims of the cross cultural diversity issues in Australia. The international students have to handle several complicated challenges in Australia whenever they are admitted in the universities. They become the victims of bullying and racial comments by the native Australians when they attend the classes or attend the seminars (Ahmed, 2012).

The international students are often not habituated with the cultures when they enter the university premises and mix with those students. This is why they have no clue when they are bullied and racially harassed (Banks, 2015). They have to tolerate this kind of psychological ragging in the universities and become mentally very weak. Some students have to leave the university when this torture goes beyond their tolerance level.

Ethical framework for addressing the issue

The importance of ethics is very much important in this context since this ill practice in the Australian universities should be stooped. It is because this kind of ill practice affects the reputation of the university in negative manner as well. In this issue, the Australian students should be taken different sessions with the professors on how to behave with the international students (Bochner, 2013). They should be taught that these international students are their guests and they should be treated with proper respect. Their behavior will be important as it represents the overall reputation of their university as well as of their country of Australia. They should be warned by the professors that no incident of racial abuse or bullying the university premises would be entertained. Strict actions would be taken against the guilty and they might be rusticated as well.

Identification of issue two

The second issue that has been chosen in this aspect is that of providing added facilities to the native Australian students in the job market. According to the critics, the Australian fresh graduates are always preferred and given the upper hand when it comes to job distribution. The international students are only the second choice in this scenario (Bochner, 2013). Their skills and capabilities are overlooked and less meritorious Australian students are given the opportunity to bag the jobs. The statistics have shown that the international students generally contribute almost $19 billion to the Australian economy but less than 50% of them have got the jobs in the Australian firms (Banks, 2014). The merits and skills of the international students are completely overlooked and ignored as a potential employee. However, some managers of the Australian firms are of the opinion that it is very risky to employ the international students than the local ones (Altbach, Yudkevich & Rumbley, 2015). 

Ethical framework for addressing the issue

The ethical standards must be set when the organizations will go on to employ the fresh graduate students in their firms. The managers must not fear about the outcomes when they recruit the international students in their firms (Herzberg, 2017). They should only provide them with the arrangements for their living and food. They will deliver their best efforts to attain the objectives of the company. However, the company must stress on the individual skill, merit and their capacities over the nationality of the student. The fair recruitment policies should be encouraged in all these Australian organizations. Otherwise it will be difficult to provide the Visa to the international students (Herzberg, 2017).  The internship programs could be arranged providing the international graduates with the equal opportunities. The equal opportunities will always give the international students with the proper motivation. Thus they will perform better in the midst of their local graduate competitors.

The conclusion to this paper can be drawn in a manner that the ethical issues in the Australian universities have been increasing and remedies to this problem should be found properly. The problems should be solved to keep up the good reputation of the universities. The equal opportunities should be given to both the local and international students. This will create a better Australian society with much diversity.
