MN504 Networked Application Management For Wireshark Filters

The aim of the assignment is to develop an analytical understanding of different distributed network conditions. The assignment will provide an opportunity to understand network management. This exercise provides an opportunity to demonstrate analytical ability of evaluating distributed systems performance, Quality of Service and service management.

Answer:

Introduction 

This report includes network analysis of Australian news channels and capture live video streaming data. The live streaming data will be used for prepare time sequence graph, throughput graph as well as load distribution analysis. This live network analysis is attempted over two news channels of Australia such as SKYNEWS and 7LIVE. Where each channel has their different infrastructures for live streaming video therefore in this report every performance analysis is measured twice.

Findings

The network analysis of sky news and 7 live channels is performing in Wireshark network analysis software. This software provides multiple type of filters to filter out performance data, where one of the most useful tool is statistic tool, which provide TCP stream graphs as well as load distribution, DNS, HTTP, DHCP statistics etc. as well.  The TCP time sequence graph is advertised TCP windows retransmissions, SACK information and ACK. In the TCP time sequence graph shows a difference between advertised window and sequence number if the application goes sleep for too long. However, the network throughput or bandwidth is calculating from a calculation of various fields, where Wireshark can calculate by a simple tool called statistics.

Conclusion

In this report, the analysis of sky news and 7 live channels are used to perform network observation on some preferred network parameters. In the above part of this report showing the capture packets of these two sites, where it can be assumed the performance of live video streaming. This report produces some evidences of both news channels that they are providing a good network strength and a stable online news channel. However, in this report all TCP, HTTP data packets are analyzed by Wireshark filters, which are shown in this report.
