Answer:

Introduction:

The given research report is related to a business in which we have selected the target area of Scotland, UK. The business plan is mainly focussed towards building up of a gym and children facilities along with it.  The name which we have selected for this particular business is ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’.

While a survey done across whole Scotland it has been identified that parents are very much concerned about their health and with their babies’ proper care and this is the main reason behind selecting this kind of business model. So, keeping in mind this need we will build up such a place where parents can keep their children and also they can take care of their health. This will provide them two kinds of benefits:

  1. They will be getting a chance to monitor how their kids are being taking care off
  2. Secondly they can also take good care of their health alongside(Howat, 2012).

Analysis of the Business Plan with respect to different Business Models

Scotland is known as a highly developed part of the United Kingdom with around 5.3 million people. With healthcare services like Gym’s and healthcare centre’s becoming easier to access and cheaper to avail, there are a plethora of new one’s being launched each month. While, this might be a great opportunity for a new GYM to be opened in the Scotland area, there are certain factors that require close evaluation and discussion to make them the most impactful. In order to create a product that is different from the competitors around the company, there is a need to add some additional or unique features (Gordon, 2014). To stand out the ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’will have special Baby Care services along with strata of the art Gym facilities. While healthcare and staying in shape can become anyone’s target, achieving it and later on maintaining it becomes tough for moms and all the mom-to-be. While ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’will provide all the latest perks of a City Gym, it will facilitate Mothers and Pregnant women to be a part of the Gym facilities and help keep them in shape (Murphy, 2010).

This unique perspective and a Baby Care service section assures that Taking care of the child will not mess up the workout sessions of moms and dads. While the idea generation is the first step towards the actualization of the plan, the first idea must be a completely valid one to become implementable. The second phase is to plan how to achieve this in order to accelerate the success of ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’. The idea behind the gym needs to be backed by internal intent, which is realized through the careful examination of personal, financial and social goals. In order to find relevant information and to establish the right sequence for successful opening of the new ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’, we have used data from Government sources and Mintel. The Mintel is a reliable source for market research and facts and other facts and government statistic are used for evaluating the project of opening new Gym.

The first aspect to consider is the place for business, and in this respect the Porter’s 5 forces framework is a guideline. ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’is a new gym with two Gym’s located really close. There are five forces to the development of any business, according to the framework, factors like the buyers buying capacity and power of bargaining, threat from competitor for substitution matter. With Goldie’s Fitness, it shall not be a completely new concept in Scotland, but there is option to undergo massive changes. In order to incorporate the Porter’s 5 Forces theory we might want to look into how the theory is used to categories the different factors that contribute into the marketing of a new product such as the ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’. There are five forces that determine the price and what the company must follow to attain maximum profitability and these factors are the Rivalry within the Industry, and here’s where ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’will find steep competition, since Scotland already has multiple Gym’s and a variety of unique ones. There are outdoor Gym’s multi faceted ones to encourage combination and unique combination of services that create separate target groups for each company. There is the threat of new entrants as we suggested just a few lines back which show that there is a threat of substitutes, for these Gym’s. With the rising amount of money being lost of fitness and the face that most people give up after a few weeks and days of participating, new fun and engaging options are entering market. Dance, Yoga and Zumba are some of the alternatives to traditional hardcore gym and other facilities. The Guardian reported in 2015 that the spending on Healthcare were up to more than 40% than 2014. This means, a more affordable option will attract people. There is also the fact that Suppliers are determining prices of services in a lot of ways. For ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’the suppliers of equipments and services like trainers determine the ability of the Gym to become successful. There is the last part which defines the buying power of consumers. While we might say that the GVA of Scotland is quite high it is always seeking methods to save more (Indiatsy, 2014).

Ansoff’s Matrix also talks about methods to ensure that ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’understands it’s various factors and uses the best method to understand and enter the market to maximize its efforts. The Ansoff’s matrix uses a simple theory, the effort of a company would be to find out the method through which it can market and enter markets the right way. For ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’the market penetration factor is important as it focuses on the steps that need to be taken to increase or improve the productivity of the company and increasing its profitability in existing markets... The Market development sector depends on the careful planning for ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’which is dependent on how it wishes to expand its business with branches in different geographical areas as well as introduce new features and services.  In order to make the ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’stand out it is really essential to have the right research done, in order to make a significant impact on the strategy of ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’. It is essential to note that since the gym is not the first one to enter the market it should look out for diversification techniques to ensure that it understands the risks associated with the market existence. Also in order to create a market advantage, ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’will be offering short and budget packages for couples and parents which would include Day Care services for their Child as well as Gym facilities. This will help couples to enjoy a discounted package while having their baby at a convenient and safe place while they are working or busy (Bachmeier, 2013).

SWOT analysis of the business

In this segment we will be discussing about some of the major SWOTS through which an idea can be generated whether the business will be a success or not.  By proper analysis of the SWOT the business will also get a chance through which they can modify their strategies in order to compete with its competitors (Ommani, 2011).

The SWOT of the ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’ is described in the below given table.

Strengths

Weaknesses

Opportunities

Threats

The first strength of this kind of business model and particular for ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’ is that they are providing twin services through which both the parents and children can spend time together (Chang, 2013).

The most important weakness which these kinds of business mainly face is the timing problem. As most of the gym centre either operate in early morning or at night as a result it might be a problem for the parents to take out their children at that time (Mokhtarian, 2015).

The opportunities of any kind of business are basically based on the selected target audience and area. For opening up this business we have selected the most posh area of Scotland who are in a good position to keep their child as well as can take their physical fitness both at the time (Hough, 2005).

The threats which might create a hindrance for the business is the local regimental policies and regulations. It is very difficult to get prior licences for opening up of any kind of business in Scotland. As a result this will be one of the major threats for ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’ (Hayward, 2002).

For any new business having dedicated employee is one of the greatest strength.  We will recruit only trained professional for both the segments so that our customer can get the best services and will visit on a daily basis.

We fundamentally investigated our plan of action and we could distinguish another real shortcoming. The first is the way that we are another business and the second is the way that we might not have the budgetary assets required to coordinate with existing gym and baby facility centre and wellness focuses in Scotland with regards to getting most recent exercise centre and wellness gear and creating the required buildups that can drive activity towards our gym

'Goldie's Gym and Baby Care Centre ‘will be midway situated in one of the busiest territory of Scotland and we are interested in all the accessible open doors that the city brings to the table. The service will be available 24 hours in a day amid ends of the week (Fridays to Sundays) and from 6:00 am to 12 midnight from Mondays to Thursdays giving us the favourable position to use on any accessible open door.

A portion of the risks that are likely going to stand up to 'Goldie's Gym and Baby Care Centre are troublesome statistic/social variables, downturn in the economy which is likely going to influence purchasers spending and ultimately, the rise of new contenders inside a similar area where our gym and baby facility centre is found.

Explanation of the issues

While Baby Care services are significant feature that shall help new moms and dads to stay fit, it also is not a very new concept. Many Gyms in Scotland provide special Baby Care services to help new moms and parents of small children to participate and have a healthy life. This creates a chance of getting stiff competition from the market. While our SWOT analysis shows that ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’will have a fairly advantage for the newbie moms and parents who are having little children from the age of 6 weeks to 12 years, since it will be more populated with moms and young parents; it might fare off as a less attractive place for singles. Many people go to gym to stay fit as well as to socialize and meet new people (Gordon, 2014). Though there is a need to diversify their offerings, Since Baby care services are quite common in today’s life, ‘Goldie’s Gym and Baby Care Centre’must find a location which does not have a similar gym or facility nearby. Also offering options like a playing area, fun toys and other engaging activities, it is possible to have a more successful Baby Care facility. Also a Drop off facility for a full day Baby Care facility is always appreciated by working parents who need to have someone to look after their child, while they are at work.  Scotland has a host of people who are ready to get fit, but are constrained by time or budget or because of children (Gretzky, 2015).

Analysis of the data collection

While preparing the plan for Gold’s Gym and Baby Care centre we have taken help from a number of sources which include the Government and Non Government sources. We have used sources like The Guardian (Online Newspaper) , Academic.mintel.com , www.gov.scot for references and statistics as well as used data from https://statistics.gov.scot/ which have been crucial in our discovery of information and also helped us in creating a feasible plan for Gold’s Gym. We have used the number of people and youth in order to ascertain the necessity of healthcare facilities and also used Mintel sources to find out the current number of people who want to join healthcare facilities but are unable to, due to lack of proper facilities and systems. Using the Modern Families Index 2015 for Scotland to find that around 41.7% of women cut their working hours, losing their talent and even risking benefits to look for their children who are mostly under the age of eight years. While we also found considerable information as to how around a significant part of parents would use their yearly paid holidays to find good childcare and more than 75% were using their paid holidays to look after their child when in emergency. While this means that people will value from getting healthcare services and childcare facilities at the same place. This will reduce their stress levels and also reduce their time to find out a suitable place when they already avail their gym facilities (Gordon, 2014).

Conclusion:

While we have devoted significant words on how the Gold’s Gym will operate and how it should be marketed, we must also consider the future developments of the company which shall determine its success. It was possible through close understanding of how each factor related to the service impacts the choices customers make and how well the business can keep making money. Scotland Is a highly developed region and has been seen as a significant part of UK’s growing expertise, and it is quite natural to make significant developments in the marketing strategy to develop more sales and get more returns for Gold’s Gym and Baby Care centre.
