“One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was from a horse master. He told me to go slow fast. I think that applies to everything in life. We live as though there aren’t enough hours in the day but if we do each thing calmly and carefully we will get it done quicker and with much less stress.”

Viggo Mortensen.

Discuss this statement. In your discussion it is important to identify typical stressors and to describe coping skills that be used to decrease stress.

Answer:

Stress is considered to be one of the major problem that people are suffering with precariously. There are a number of stress factors that are responsible to make an adverse impact on the individual mental condition. Therefore, the purpose of this essay is to figure out different types of stressors and discussed the concepts of principles regarding the topic. In addition to this, the essay also incorporates the skills and strategies to deal and resolving stress related issues.

According to Mullick et al. (2016) there are generally two types of stressors in terms of the Eustress and distress. As far as the eustress is concerned it can be argued that this kind of stress identifies the positive feeling to push a person developing motivation and more focused that facilitate personal development. On the contrary, van Winkel et al. (2015) advocated that the distress feeling causes both long term and short term anxieties and as a result of that it decreases the performance of the person that paves the way for further mental or physical issues. Nevertheless, as per the study conducted by Aguiló et al. (2015) it can be argued that stress is generally used as a negative factor and on the basis of this general notion stress can be divided into 4 types such as time stress, anticipatory stress, situational stress and encounter stress.

Time stress highlights the factors of the stress caused by time. This kind of stress generally related to the business and working professionals where issues of deadline or meeting timings are considered to be important factors (Ritter et al. 2016). On the other hand, the anticipatory stress puts emphasis on the anticipation of the future. People suffer with an insecurity of future that becomes burdensome for them and it causes bad impression in performances. However, situational stress is a very common nature that make the person uncomfortable and stressed out in a crisis or dire situation. Besides this, the encounter stress is associated with the interaction with different people and it is a symptom of lack of confidence. It can be asserted that most of the people are suffering with such mental problems due to immense stress pressure and it will cause a damage to the personality, performance and even increases the suicidal tendencies out of frustration. Therefore, it is important for an individual to deal with the stress related problems and sort it out as fast as he could.

In his research Sadiq, Khan and Siddiqui (2018) opined that there was no such specific theories or strategies to reduce stress or overcome the pressure. It is primarily based on the person and his ability to understand the intensity of the issue. Everyone has his or her own specification and uniqueness that initiates different strategies and formulas to redeem stress. As a matter of fact, both the victim and the authority plays a significant role to deal with the issue. In workplace the authority will be the organisational executives and managers whereas in student life the authority could be the parents and guardians and the school or educational institute authority. Based on this understanding, there are some initiatives in this context such as

Establishing a strong mental stability is considered to be an important aspect for the organisations to deal with. In this context, the mental stability will provide privilege to deal with the stress related issues. In addition to this, it is important for the person to engage himself with some physical activities. As Larsen and Matchkov (2016) advocated that the physical exercises are contributed a lot in the stress releasing process and it will be beneficial for an individual to burn out all the stress by engaging himself with the process of physical exercises. The next step is related to the putting more focus on jobs. It can be achieved through set limits appropriately so that it will be helpful to prioritize role as per the requirements. Furthermore, it is beneficial for a person to seek social support in terms of creating daily interaction with others in order to skip out any anxiety or stress. As a matter of fact, the psychological treatment is considered to be the ultimate option for a person to resolve the stress related issues with proper consultation with the psychiatrist.

From that point of view it can be stated that there are a number of stress related issues that contribute a lot and responsible to damage the mental stability and establishment of a person. Therefore, people are very concern about keeping their mind relaxed and less anxious so that they can focus on their jobs and develop their performances more effectively. Based on this understanding, it can be concluded that this report rightly highlights the theoretical aspects and categorisation of stress and in order to cope with it the report also mentions some recommendations that are useful for an individual.
