With due respect, I would like to draw your attention regarding the issues being faced by launch of battery-powered car for the masses in early July 2017 (economist.com). General Motors has already sold Chevrolet Bolt over 12,000 followed by Japan and Nissan’s Leaf, being the best selling battery-powered vehicles in the world. However, Sir being the CEO, there are many issues and drawbacks witnessed in this battery-powered car approach. In the recent times, there is dramatic fall in the lithium-ion batteries cost that are required to generate the pure-electric cars. In the meanwhile, Tesla is investing in this battery packs with Panasonic that is making it cheap to make cars as compared to internal combustion care engines.
The car owners are facing serious issues regarding temperature and cooling aspects. These are not durable and until the temperatures are below the freezing point, the batteries are not in well- working condition. On a contrary, internal-combustion cars provide 10,000 hours of service. Moreover, there are only 34 hydrogen filling stations for the refuelling in America and only three in California.
The biggest problems that are incurred in this electric powered batteries is that fuel-cell “stack” cost and the expenses for the production, transportation and dispensing of the hydrogen fuel. Tesla is emphasizing on the designing and production of batteries and are not interested in the car as a whole. Tesla is heavily spending on the batteries and not concentrating on the infrastructure as a whole. Tesla’s investments in the manufacturing of these lithium-ion batteries are giving a little diversion from the actual model of the cars. While looking into some issues that electric-powered batteries are creating manufactured by Tesla, it can be said that one pays money and take their pick.
