Introduction:

The dialogue between Kirsty and her mother clearly reveals the fact that a detailed interaction is going on between the mother and the daughter. The mother is highly illustrative about the various things that she is telling her daughter. The mother is careful of her choice of words and also her explanation range. This is so because she would want her daught
er to have complete information about the things that the mother is talking about. Clarity of information is important for the mother as she would like her daughter to have all the right and complete information. Kirsty on the other hand did reveal some very cryptic responses. It reveals the fact that the enthusiasm of talking of Kirsty happens to be much less than what can be seen for her mother. This also exhibits the fact that often children do not take the same interest in talking to their parents as their parents take interest in talking to them.


This is a basic attribute of behaviour that can be seen for the children and their parents of the current times. Often it has been seen that the parents are unable to draw the children into effective communication. This could be due to the lack of interest on the part of the child or even due to the nature of the subject or the style of communication that is followed and used by the parents. A similar thing can be seen for case of Kirsty and her mother (Zolten & Long, 2000).

One of the registry of languages that I would like to choose as the central concept of my study shall be that of casual conversation. This is a registry of conversation that is followed in the most different and diversified aspect of common life. This is a registry of conversation that is followed by a large number of people across the world. This is a genre of communication that happens to be much in vogue and has a lot of variation (Kolucki & Lemish, 2011).

Communication amongst friends, communication amongst peers of college and school, communication amongst family members, conversation amongst general members of the society, communication amongst siblings and communications amongst general strangers of the society are some of the examples of such communication continued in a prolonged situation.

In such type of communication often not all participants begins their roles in the discussion at the same point of time. Many people join a long while after the initial start of the conversation. The participants gather a basic idea of the entire topic and starts contributing to the topic. They own ideas are often freely flowing. Stopping somebody from talking and putting your point first, friendly local language and cracking of irrelevant jokes is a common aspect of such types of discussion (Ephlux, 2009).

This is the most important form of discussion that is followed by a large number of people across the world. People of all age groups can participate in such forms of communication. The topic can be anything and the number of participants can also be numerous.
