Self Reflection on my role in Health care practice

Teamwork

Health care practice in this 21^st century has taken a new shape in health care practice. Health issues are becoming more challenging and balancing acts. Teamwork and collaboration are thus important in meeting these changing needs. As of essence health care practice entails different players, and when it comes to providing services there is need for building collaboration and coming together and building effective communication tool which is open to ideas, and different view points for the benefit of health care practice.

Improvement on Communication skills and Collaboration

As a participant in this noble health course, I need to be able to have good communication skills and an open minded view and be able to welcome other peoples thought and ideas. My strive is to build collaboration and teamwork among those we are walking together with both the patient and the staff. The role of interdisciplinary collaboration is to work together and to be able to make the working environment to be favourable and conducive for health care practice. This approach is crucial for me in building patient collaboration and seeking better outcomes for the patient. In my efforts of attaining these goals and objectives, I must be able to commit myself effectively and commit myself towards attaining them.

Care and Love

Health care nursing practice has always been my passion and drives towards achieving the goal, has been my strides ever in my school life. Over the years in my practice as healthy care practitioner, I have become aware on the different levels of health care and access to it and the role it plays in improving the health of the popu
lation. In my practice I have learnt on how to improve my collaboration with both parents and patients, in offering clear communication of diseases and interpreting diagnostic procedures and prescription of health care approaches to improve the health of the patient and further the quality of life. My work in health care practice is to focus on the health promotion through prevention of injury, providing cure, rehabilitation and support. My beliefs in this profession are that I need to dedicate myself in learning ne knowledge in order to provide professional care to my clients. I belief in attributes like passion, towards offering assistance to the less advantage people in the society , helping them with passion and outgoing positive attitude.  

Empathy and hygiene

With my focus on improving health quality of the patient and my commitment to provide empathic care that shows the understanding of the relationship between patients’s culture and experience in health care practice. Addressing the patient concern is my out most duty and commitment towards providing timely and holistic care, my vast skills in health care are geared towards  helping me to recognise and reconcile socially created beliefs about health  and be able to put the interest of the patient at the fore front while maintain quality  care in my practice I seek and strive to uphold the principles of health care and being committed towards honesty and upholding individual safety and passion for provision of health care.

Assesment using Rolfe model

The condition assessment involves a patient with Influenza Type A, in the ward. It is largely due to contagious flu and is a reason to worry in this case due to its nature of being able to be communicable to close contact persons. My role as health care practitioner is to prevent any further spread and to protect those taking care of the patients, through taking precautionary measures. As a health care practitioner I decided to take precautionary measures by ensuing actions towards its spread. I encouraged the use of wearing surgical masks and protective gears to minimise the spread. At this phase it is important to protect and contain the virus spread. The main aim is to contain the disease, to avoid its further spread. For the parents and care givers, I advised them to be ready for vaccine and those experiencing symptoms should seek further medical assessments. I advice those who had experiences some to seek further medical assessment to further confirm the disease I tried to persuade the caregivers to understand risk accounted. The response of the caregivers in the ward is that they could not do anything due to the fact that they could not trust the mediation vaccine advises by me. The likely response from the actions is that due to the resistance from the close relatives to take the vaccine, there was likelihood that many people were likely to get the disease.   This were as sad trend in that the disease is very serious and the consequences arising from the inaction by those attached to the patient could likely lead to infection and more readmission which could increase the risk of getting the diseases. As a heath care practitioner I felt this was not correct in that  the efforts gained till development of vaccine and preventions services, were not going to be help full but was likely. Thus it meant that there was more diagnosis to be made and higher health care cost was likely to be encountered.

As much as there is known treatment regime for Influenza like vaccination and antiretroviral treatment for those found positive with the virus, there are significant challenges in terms of acceptability from patients. Resistance can be encountered while we are practising health care for the general population. My actions in initiating the treatment protocol were informed on the basis that health is paramount f or any individual, and as a health care practitioner and my task is to come up with a management plan. The principles of provision of care in health care practice are meant to safeguard positive health and protect good health. All efforts are informed by the principle of promoting health and achieving quality care through right disease prognosis and adoption of preventing measures in enduring that we achieve positive health for the general population, hence this are the core reasons that informed my decisions. My actions were based on the principles of health promotion and public health safety. In health care practice, we are been mandated and sworn to provide care needed for the population for enabling the population to access good health and to achieve quality health care.  The spread of influenza occurs fast and can spread faster among patients, residents, health care providers or even visitors engaged with the patient. Hence adequate prevention measures need to be considered and implemented swiftly. Some of the known treatment regimes include vaccination, infection control, proper testing, antiretroviral treatment and chemoprophylaxis. Any of these should be implemented. Further my actions will be geared towards will be geared towards educating those resisting the treatment and preventing measures on the benefits of the treatment regimen and the impact of the disease on the individual health. The actions I would have initiated include aggressively looking for treatment options for those already infected and those displaying symptoms of the disease, as early management of the disease is crucial, early diagnosis ensures that the disease is management at an early stage without any advancement. In this management case it has made me to understand that management of influenza is possible if only adequate measure related to diagnosis and prevention are initiated prior to disease advancement.  Hence in the management process resistance to change can be encountered even when providing the ultimate care for vulnerable population, and hence in approaching management of influenza, proper and adequate engagement with the patients and the vulnerable population is crucial in managing the disease.

Now what I have to do in managing the conditions are to improve my skills on disease management and to ensure that treatment regime are adhered to. I need to learn new ways of ensuring that the public understand the process of early disease management and build trust on the medical system. As a practitioner in the health care practice I need to ensure that treatment plans are adhered to. The importance of vaccination and testing in managing influenza are important in disease control for both the patient and those in close contact with the patient. In encountering resistance to medication in this case theirs need for me to ensure that I assess the challenges and factors that might initiate this kind of resistance. It could be underlying social factors which informed the decision of the population that refuse the treatment management. Assesment is necessary to find out these factors and to ensure that they are addressed with immediate effect because it can improve to be major hindrance later in the health practice with respect to communicable disease like Influenza. The consequence of inaction of the management of the disease, is that widespread infection will be eminent and control of the disease when it has spread can be difficult and costly and could endanger the quality of life of the public. For solving the issue there is need for broader understanding of the contextual issues that is casing hindrance for the uptake of the medicine and to resolve with immediate level possible so as to manage the spread at an early stage.

Article Relevancy to My Practice

Relevancy to my health care issue

The topic analysis of the articles is relevant to my study in that Flu, has been contagious and its consequences to the public has been fatal. The article puts an average of people dying from Flu in Hong Kong alone to be an estimate of 500-1000 people every year. Flu referred to as H1N1 virus is highly contagious, and it is for this reason that it remains relevant. In my previous case study review the relatives of the patient were refusing to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from Flu. The public perception highlighted in the articles could simply try to give an explanation concerning the issue. The caregivers of the patient have been influenced by the perception that the flu is largely unpreventable and taking medication of the vaccine did not bore any fruit. As much as the science proofs this fact the strain causing the flu is highly mutagen and the strains are difficult to predict, makes its management to be complicated, hence the rising death toll from the population at large.

Knowledge gained on Flu care and Impacts on my practice

The articles clearly inform me of the swayed public perception with regard to the management of the disease. The public no longer trust the prevention measures being put up by the Ministry of Health. Vaccines which they thought will go a long way in helping the population is proofing to be ineffective and the continual strain that changing each and every time. The articles put the subject context, in the public domain thinking in that tries to explain the feelings of the common citizen of Hong Kong , with regard to health services trust. The information presented is in a factual manner explaining the prognosis of the disease, from a historical perspective to the social consequences it is currently being observed to its care protocol undertaken by the government in managing the disease. The possible impact of these information has on my health care practice is that management of Flu could be hard task to achieve in future. With loss of public confidence, there will citizen apathy and reluctance toward taking medical initiatives in taking prevented measures like vaccinations, however they are being improved daily due to the mutating aspect of the virus.

Impacts on public view

The article presents a negative picture of the disease to the public. In that it tries to sway the public confident on the medication protocol with regard to care management of the disease. However the article in some aspects has really proofed to be informative on the factual information concerning the flu. By informing the general citizen of the characteristics of the flu will help in giving them scientific information to allay their fears. The article has stressed the action which the government is doing in trying to manage the diseases. It explains the efforts and assurance the government is giving on the management of the disease with regard to diseased management, which proofs to be beneficial in building the confidence of the citizens. When clients reads these articles they will have some trust however reluctant to take the medicine, but they will be in a better position to have some of the facts and be able to respond to any treatment information with regard to medication management.

Impacts on my practice

The articles gives me an opportunity to be more effective in my practice having known that public confidence can be swayed negatively with regard to disease management, there is need for me to be convince my clients of importance of prevention and early treatment so as to manage the early symptoms before they explore to full blown flu. The article gives an elaborate view of the consequences of emergence of fear and loss of trust in medical; management of the disease, which is very crucial and dangerous to the management of the patients disease state. This gives an opportunity to change my way of practice to be informed of building confidence among the public and those seeking help ad medical attention. Prevention is better than cue, aligning my practice to adhere to simple and safe protective measures is crucial in my health care practice and to be proactive in reassuring the public of the hopes in the treatment options available and to ensure that there general health is safe so as to avoid double burden of the disease which may complicate Flu cure management.

Evaluation reflection of Care Management

The Assesment and management of Flu, commonly referred to as HINI, is crucial in that the disease is highly contagious and can easily get out control if adequate measures are not put in place. Thus as an health care practitioner there is need to put forward preventive measures so as to mitigating the spread of the flue, within the shortest time possible. As much as there might be resistance to disease management, there is need for me to understand the underlying factors so as to inform my practice on the critical steps to take. My case study management has proven that, there is need to build confidence on which we serve especially the patients and those taking care of the patients in taking precautionary measures when a contagious flu is reported. Failure to adhere to preventive approaches is likely to make the disease more fatal and bring harm than damage to both the public both patients, caregivers and the health care practitioners in the service. This exercise has regained my consciousness on the active role to undertake in managing the disease and the procedures to follow. Educating the public and assuring their confidence is essential in the steps to be taken in managing the disease. Hence my determination going forward is that as a health care practitioner the back stops at me. As patients and the public look upon us, for any management cases when disease arises hence, we need to be well equipped and be ready in the noble course of improving health status of the population.
