Conduct a Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats (SWOT) analysis of your academic writing skills. An example can be found on page 16 of the prescribed textbook. The SWOT analysis should be presented in a square with four (4) quadrants or in a list as it is presented in the textbook. Each quadrant/section should have. In addition to the SWOT analysis, you should outline some strategies to address one of the weaknesses that you identified in your academic writing skills. That is, if you identified ‘lack of good grammar skills’ as a weakness then describe that you could use to overcome that weakness.

The critical thinking is the skill of a person to absorb, synthesize and critically analyse the information presented to them. A critical thinker applies several higher order cognitive operations on the information rather than just absorbing it. It is the ability to check the reliability, authenticity and trustworthiness of the information. A critical thinker should be able to generalize and apply his knowledge in different domains of life. Reasoning is a significant aspect of critical thinking. It is the ability of a person to analyse the authenticity of information. In addition to it there are several other aspects of critical thinking; however, it is difficult to define them in narrow conception (Cottenie, & Staempfli, 2016).
The IT professionals need to have critical thinking ability in order to perform effectively in the workplace. It is the responsibility of the IT professionals to solve issues related to IT in the organization. Therefore, they need critical thinking ability to examine the root cause of any organization problem and address it. With the advent of IT organizations, the software professionals are attaining several high profile positions in busines
s organization. In managerial positions, it is important to handle certain issues and address business issues which have a number of opportunities and risks.
They are holding more responsible positions and contribute to industry-wide analysis, management of stakeholders and identify the organization’s needs. In school, we had the opportunity to enter into a speech competition. The activity was a different experience for a shy and introvert kid like me. In other school activities, we only need to communicate with each other and interact with only friends. The experience changed my personality and I gathered more confidence and boldness. In the activity, I gave speech on the global economic depression in 2008. For the preparation of the speech, I gathered knowledge from different sources and wrote the best speech I could with the knowledge. I realized that the experience changed my competence and boldness. In the future stage experiences, I remain more confident.
I realized that significant development occurred in my personality as a result of this exercise. However, the feedback of the teacher further enhanced my experience. I realized that I had stage fear and in order to present the speech effectively, I looked at the ceiling throughout the experience. I also realized that I only focused on the theoretical knowledge only. I realized that I did not focus on the practical knowledge which is also essential in the development of the professional skills. Moreover, I realised that it is important to remain casual while giving speech or debate on a stage. Before giving the speech, I realised that I was very afraid of specking in public. However, the experience increased my overall confidence. It also shed light on the lack of self-confidence.
My friends with high confidence level performed very well in the speech. I realized that in order to increase the confidence, preparation of the subject is important. A person should be well-prepared and have thorough subject knowledge in order to attain high confidence. Moreover, upon the reflection of the activity, I also realised that preparation of the subject also enables the person to answer different questions related to the subject. I realised that in order to boost my confidence, I need to undertake various associated activities. I realized that I need to study different books and participate in cultural activities in order to boot my confidence. In order to boost my communication skills, I should engage in role-plays with my friends. Practicing debates and discussions on contemporary topics with my friends is also essential in developing communication skills. I realized that if I would have the opportunity to participate in speech again, I would give it differently and with more confidence (Williams, Wooliams & Spiro, 2012).

The ethical dilemmas are a part of the daily lives of the IT professionals. The ethical dilemma refers to the situations in which on course of action breach one morality theory whereas another course of action breach another morality theory. In the present case, an ethical dilemma has been raised wherein the It professional is in dilemma whether she should inform her friend regarding the health of her husband. The friend along with her husband has applied for a huge sum as a housing loan to buy a home in posh colony of Sydney. However, the wife has no knowledge that her husband is terminally ill. He has only six months to live and has been recently diagnosed with the disease. If she takes loan, she will get undue financial burden. In severe case, the she will become a loan defaulter. According to the personal perception, it is the duty of IT professional to select the best possible action in a specific situation. The ACS codes of professional conduct have been formed to guide the professionals for ethical and justified action. In the present case, the best action is to inform the friend regarding the health condition of her husband.
The ACS code of primacy of the public interest, the public interest should be given highest priority. Therefore, the interest of the friend as a customer or client should be given highest priority. Moreover, if she will become loan defaulter, it will be a waste of public money which will also be a breach of public interest. The code of conduct which states that it is the duty of IT professional to perform all the duties with competence also aligns with the course of action. It is also important to select the customers and clients who are capable of repaying their debts. The IT professionals should take all measures to assure that the public or bank money is not wasted. Moreover, it is the duty of the IT professional to assure that no customer remains ignorant or have financial stress later in life (Weckert & Lucas, 2013).
It can be concluded that it is important for an It professional to IT accomplish all his duties ethically. It is a responsible profession and the IT professionals have the responsibility to handle the sensitive and the private information of their customers. Any breach of duty can result in bad name for the entire profession. Therefore, it is important to exercise integrity in the professional conduct.

The unit has been significant in developing several interpersonal and workplace related skills.
- Recently, I organized an event or get together in the organization. During the management of the event, I used listening and communication skills for making the arrangements. I also realized that effective communication skills are essential in leadership or management.
- The reading skills are essential in acquitting knowledge. In the professional world, an individual has limited time; however, h can improve his skills in limited time by developing reading skills.
- The team work skills are important in resolving the conflicts between the team members. A person can act as a negotiator and assist the team members to arrive at a common ground during conflicts.
- The ethical behaviour, privacy and legitimacy of actions are essential in the IT profession. There was detailed description of several issues and the code of conduct required for IT professionals. We were given an essay wherein I used my critical thinking skills. We were also given case-studies to solve which also enhanced my cognitive abilities (Bolton, 2014).
- I also learnt that acknowledging cultural differences are important in professional life. It is important to understand the cultural difference and act accordingly that the values of a person are not harmed.
- The IT technologies can be evaluated according to their error rate and processing time. However, their application also depends on their relevance to business application.
- In business world, e-mails and video conferencing are commonly used for communication. The emails are circulated to transmit any professional information in the organization. With video conferencing, the employees sitting at different places can work together.
According to personal perception, the module of business ethics and interpersonal communication was important in the learning process. They increased my knowledge in both theory and practice. I was more confident and able to present myself effectively.
In the interpersonal communication, the focus should be on presentation and communication skills. Therefore, the university should organize group discussions and debates. In order to deeply imbibe the theoretical information related to ethics, the organization should provide case studies.
