Write a short (2-page) paper in APA style discussing the following elements:

  1. Describe the project that you were working on, including the people involved.
  2. Explain the problem that you encountered with the group. How was that problem overcome? What was the end result of encountering and dealing with that problem?
  3. What do you think was the cause of the problem? How much of the problem came from miscommunication, either from you or from other people involved? What did you do to help resolve the problem?
  4. If you were able to relive that experience, how would you change the way that you approached the encountered problem? How would you communicate differently?

The event that has been taken into consideration, in this case, is a tree plantation program. In this event, friends and family members participated to make the event successful. The project was not big, but it tested the capability of working in a collaborative environment and communication skills of all the involved individuals.

In this event differences in approach methodology was the biggest challenge for the entire team. Family members’ process of approach was old, and they were reluctant to learn the newest techniques from the friends. They were reluctant to use the machines because they thought it would be hectic for them to learn new things and incorporate them into the project in a simultaneous manner. The approach strategy was hampering the project, and it was lagging behind. Energy and resources were being wasted, which are one of the major components of any teamwork approach (Pancel, 2014).

Overcoming the Problem 

Mutual understanding and leadership skills mitigated the issue proficiently just after the emergence. The sudden rise of families’ adaptability should also be taken into consideration. At first, the issue was understood, and then logical decisions have been taken into consideration (Ganoe et al., 2017). People from the elder group were asked to cooperate because the project’s deadline was at stake. In this case, the elder people understood the necessity and responded properly.

Result of Dealing the Problem 

Psychological aspects of working in a team are highlighted in this part. Leadership skills where polished. Experience of working in a group and rectifying the issues has been learnt. It is understood that people of different generations often get stuck between their beliefs and the need for modification. In future handling, the same diversified group in any professional background will be easier because the psychology of the generation will remain almost the same in those cases.

The main reason behind this Issue was misunderstanding the command given by the team leader. The team leader asked to work in the most effective and energy efficient manner, where the family members assumed that they are free to do what they think is convenient for them (Silva, 2016). The elder team members took the information in a wrong manner, and this miscommunication created issues for the project accomplishment. The issue was solved by giving a demonstration of using modern techniques and methodology by the team leader.

4. Amendments in the Approach and Communication 

The approach process was adequate to handle the issues faced during the event. However, in the future, opinions of both parties will be taken into consideration to the issues with a permanent and stable solution (Stanton & Baber, 2017). In the future, the disadvantages of using old methodologies will be stated to old approach supporters.

5. Providing ultimate solution

After the demonstration, the family members understood that their approach procedure is hectic compared to the other group. Decided to use the process once and they found it to be more effective than their current approach strategy.
