JonBenet Ramsey was a 6-year-old beauty queen who was found murdered in her parents' Boulder, Colorado, home on December 26, 1996. Still unsolved, the murder led to one of the most publicized police investigations of the 1990s.

Several crime scene preservation mistakes were made that day, but one of the mistakes discussed in this weeks' studies is specifically mentioned.

Can you identify that mistake?

Investigators make the mistake of not writing accurate notes and not preserving the crime scene. Accurate notes and documentation is very important to an investigation. The basic purpose of notes is to record the facts of the case. Some officers do not record any documentation or notes, which cause them to look unprofessional. Building a rapport with the suspects, victims, and witnesses can also help investigators in a case.

Write a one-page paper to share your insights, applying what you have learned about crime scene investigation.

The police searched the entire Ramsay house during the process of investigation. In n the basement John Ramsay had found the body of Jon Bennet and thereafter carried it out to the hall. The Ramsay family was surprised to find her body down there. The mistake that took place was that the Ramsay house was not searched properly. In my opinion if the police and others had searched the house properly then the kidnapping would not have switched into murder. There was a scene of homicide after they discovered the body of Jon Bennet from the basement (Nickell, 2016). In the body of Jon Bennet noticed that she hurt badly since there was a horrific fracture in her head. Jon Bennet was assaulted sexually as well. Therefore, I believe that the only mistake that occurred was negligence while searching during investigation.
