Assessment Task:

Every student within a group consisting of 3 – 4 members is required to prepare and present a 15-minute presentation on a topic as listed in the assessment. The students are required to involve in extensive desk research and explore the issue. A group report on the task (1500 words) and the presentation slides and report should be submitted in Moodle before the submission deadline (Week 9).

ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION:

Students will be divided into groups of 3-4 members. The group is to give a group oral presentation and group report on the topic listed in the assessment brief. The softcopy of the presentation slides, group report (not more than 1500 words) and other supporting materials (if any) are to be uploaded in the Moodle on or before the scheduled submission date (Week 9).

ASSESSMENT TOPIC

  1. Find the most current published national economic statistics report of any country you want to do the research on.

For Example – If group members select that they want to conduct their research study on CHINA. We can use the below mentioned link from google to find their national economic statistics – http://www.stats.gov.cn/tjsj/ndsj/2017/indexeh.htm

The objective of this task is that you get the feel of a real life example of country’ economies and how does it work.

  1. Read the national economic components from the data provided on their government website and write a report after completing following tasks:
  2. Provide a brief introduction of the country you have selected.
  3. List out the current key national economic statistics of the country such as

Current GDP

Consumer Price Index

Inflation rate

Unemployment rate

Interest rate

  1. Provide a briefly discussion on GDP growth and tend of the country. In addition, briefly explain the main contributors of the current GDP of the selected country such as

Consumption

Investment

Government expenditure Net exports

  1. What is the trend inflation of the country? Comment on people living standards and their incomes.
  2. What is the trend of unemployment of the country? Comment on the types of unemployment prevailing in the country that your group members have selected. Also, discuss if any effective measures taken in order to reduce unemployment or maintain employment rates.
  3. Draw a valid conclusion based on your findings.
  4. Provide recommendations.

GETTING STARTED

  1. Select the topic – name of the country and get it approved by the lecturer before week 4,
  2. Book an in-class presentation time with the lecturer (may be preannounced),
  3. Collect the information of your country through desk research,
  4. Present at least 10 images to be formed into slides for the presentation,
  5. Prepare the presentation slide and group report,
  6. Rehearse the presentation in front of your friends and families or other group member,
  7. Upload the presentation, group report and supporting materials (if any) on and before the submission date (Week 9),
  8. Make the presentation in the class.

ASSESSMENT SUBMISSION:

Presentations will be organised on a pre-arranged time between week 9 and 11. You will not receive any marks if you are absent in your scheduled presentation time. However, consideration may be offered only under medical ground or other extenuating circumstances. You must provide appropriate supporting paper for consideration.

Presentation slides, group report, and supporting materials must be submitted online in Moodle. All materials MUST be submitted electronically in Microsoft Office format. Other formats may not be readable by markers. Please be aware that any assessments submitted in other formats will be considered LATE and will lose marks until it is presented in Microsoft Office format.

No paper based or hardcopy submission will be accepted.

Group Report format is followed with the establishment of an executive summary and a table of content report at the start of the report. Sub headings are provided for each topic is .An assignment cover page is also required.
